TradeSkillMaster Auctioning Group Override Settings

[notice]This guide is for the classic TradeSkillMaster 1.x. For information on Groups and  Operations in TradeSkillMaster 2.0 please see Introduction to TradeSkillMaster 2.0 Groups and Operations[/notice]

One of the most important settings and core parts of TradeSkillMaster is it’s auctioning groups.

In this guide we will be exploring my glyph group as an example as this group makes use of most of these options and most players list glyphs. These settings are identical in the Category Overrides. This guide assumes you already have groups and/or categories set up for your auctions but need help deciphering the TradeSkillMaster Group Override Settings.

TradeSkillMaster Auctioning Groups IconOpen up your TradeSkillMaster by typing /tsm and open up the Auctioning Groups by clicking the coin icon at the top left. Select the group you want to work with, e.g. glyphs like in this example, then the Group Overrides tab and you should be presented with a screen following (Note the colour scheme might be different depending on your settings, but everything should be in the same place)

General Settings

TradeSkillMaster Auctioning Group Overrides General Settings

This heading contains some basic settings for how your auctions in this group will be handled.

  • Ignore Stacks Under
    • Use this to ignore auctions with stacks smaller than the selected number when calculating posting price. Useful if you’re selling a commodity typically sold in stacks (e.g. herbs or ores) but not particularly useful for our example of glyphs
  • Ignore Stacks Over
    • Similar to the previous setting this slider disregards any auctions over the number set on the slider. For glyphs I’ve set this to 1 since no one buys more than 1 of the same glyph, and there’s no point undercutting something that won’t sell anyways.
  • Ignore Low Duration Auctions
    • Following the trend of ignoring auctions this setting ignores auctions based on time left. The options are:
      • Short (<30 minutes)
      • Medium (<2 hours)
      • Long (<12 hours)
  • Disable Auto Cancelling
    • When enabled this option prevents this group from being cancelled when you run a cancelled scan
  • Disable Posting and Cancelling
    • When enabled this option prevents posting of auctions in this group as well as cancelling
  • Common Search Term
    • Currently glitched in 5.0.4. this speeds up searches when scanning groups that follow naming conventions, such as glyphs. In this group you would place “glyph of” and it would search for that instead of searching each glyph individually.
  • Add Items by ItemID
    • Handles auctions by ID not the name, handy for items with random enchants (all the “of the” items)

Post Settings (Quantity/Duration)

TradeSkillMaster Auctioning Group Overrides Post Settings

These settings determine how the auctions are posted. In the picture above you can see the settings I use in my glyphs group.

  • Post Time
    • Fairly straightforward, how long you want the auction to be posted. Comes in 12, 24, and 48 hour flavours
  • Post Cap
    • How many auctions to post at a time
  • Per Auction
    • How many items to post per auction i.e. stack size
  • User Per Auction as Cap
    • When enabled will let you fill up auction groups with as many as it can if you have under the Per Auciton setting

General Price Settings (Undercut/Bid)

TradeSkillMaster Auctioning Group Overrides General Price Settings

These settings determine how much TradeSkillMaster undercuts other auctions.

  • Undercut By
    • Gold/Silver/Copper amount to undercut auctions by
  • Bid Percent
    • What percent of the buyout to set the bid (e.g. if the buyout is 100g and the slider is set to 80% it will set the minimum bid to 80g)

Minimum Price Settings (Threshold)

TradeSkillMaster Auctioning Group Overrides Minimum Price Settings

These settings determine how low you will let your auctions go.

  • Set Threshold as a
    • This selects how you will determine the minimum price. Options here are
      • % of Aucitoneer – Appraiser
      • % of Auctioneer – Market Value
      • % of Auctioneer – Minimum Buyout
      • % of Crafting Cost
      • % of AuctionDB – Market Value
      • % of AuctionDB – Minimum Buyout
      • Fixed Gold Amount
      • % of Vendor Sell Price
      • % of WoWuction Realm Market Price
      • % of WoWuction Realm Median Price
      • % of WoWuction Realm Last Scan
      • % of WoWuction Region Market Price
      • % of WoWuction Region Median Price
  • Price Threshold
    • This is the actual setting that determines the lowest price you’ll post at. If you chose Fixed Gold Amount you can enter a gold amount, for any other option you enter a percentage amount here

Maximum Price Settings (Fallback)

TradeSkillMaster Auctioning Group Overrides Maximum Price Settings

These settings determine your fallback price and the maximum price. The fallback is the default price, what TradeSkillMaster will post at when it doesn’t know what else to do (typically when there are no other auctions up). The fallback is used where there are either a.) no auctions up or b.) the lowest auction is above the maximum price.

The maximum price is actually a multiplier based on the fallback price. The options here are:

  • Fallback Price
    • Either gold/silver/copper amount or percentage based depending on the next setting
  • Set Fallback as a
    • This will determine how you set the fallback price
      • % of Aucitoneer – Appraiser
      • % of Auctioneer – Market Value
      • % of Auctioneer – Minimum Buyout
      • % of Crafting Cost
      • % of AuctionDB – Market Value
      • % of AuctionDB – Minimum Buyout
      • Fixed Gold Amount
      • % of Vendor Sell Price
      • % of WoWuction Realm Market Price
      • % of WoWuction Realm Median Price
      • % of WoWuction Realm Last Scan
      • % of WoWuction Region Market Price
      • % of WoWuction Region Median Price
  • Maximum Price
    • This slider determines how high you will let an auction in this group be priced, set as a multiplier of the fallback price. In the clip above with a fallback of 300g and the Maximum Price slider at the default 500% the highest a glyph will be posted is 1500g, if the prices go any higher than that it will default to the fallback price of 300g

Advanced Price Settings (Reset Method)

TradeSkillMaster Auctioning Group Overrides Advanced Price Settings

There’s only one option in this section and it sets what TradeSkillMaster does when an item is below your set threshold. The options here are

  • Custom Value
  • Post at Fallback
  • Don’t Post Items
  • Post at Threshold

What you set this to depends on your preferences and the items you are dealing with. Forcing them to post at least gives you a chance at a sale, a chance to reset the market, and keeps the items from clogging up your bags.

Reset Scan Settings

TradeSkillMaster Auctioning Group Overrides Reset Scan Settings

To see these settings you will have to check Include in Reset Scan.

Enabling this section means that when you run a Reset Scan TradeSkillMaster will look for opportunities to buy up cheap items and reset them at a higher price.

  • Set max/min reset cost/price as a
    • Determines how you set the Max Reset Cost and Min Reset Profit:
      • % of Aucitoneer – Appraiser
      • % of Auctioneer – Market Value
      • % of Auctioneer – Minimum Buyout
      • % of Crafting Cost
      • % of AuctionDB – Market Value
      • % of AuctionDB – Minimum Buyout
      • Fixed Gold Amount
      • % of Vendor Sell Price
      • % of WoWuction Realm Market Price
      • % of WoWuction Realm Median Price
      • % of WoWuction Realm Last Scan
      • % of WoWuction Region Market Price
      • % of WoWuction Region Median Price\
  • Max Reset Cost
    • The most you are willing to spend, per item, to try and reset the market for that item
  • Min Reset Profit
    • The minimum possible profit TradeSkillMaster will attempt to reset for
  • Max Quantity to Buy
    • Maximum amount of items to buy while attempting to reset
  • Price Resolution
    • The resolution to determine what auctions are considered to be at the same price level
  • Max Price Per Item
    • Maximum you are willing to pay to try and reset an item

Which lua files need to be copied in order to move your auctioning groups from one computer to another? I’m going form Mac to PC, so I havent found an easy way to just drag all the files over at once.
