This is an easy one. My biggest mistake hurt, a lot, and I’m still clinging on to the remains of it so I get reminded periodically of my number one biggest mistake in my gold making history.
Long time readers (and those with good memory) may remember back in June of 2012 I talked about my first foray into guild leading. I haven’t written an update about that little project (at least I don’t think I have) for one very good reason: It was a complete and utter flop. Trying to build a guild off mass invites isn’t as easy as it looks, there really is little to no guild loyalty, and I really didn’t have the patience.
That wasn’t really the mistake though. If you go back to that article you’ll notice how much I paid for it: 250,000 gold. Soon after I made the purchase the market collapsed, mainly for two reasons:
- It was made easier to level guilds
- Character’s contributions to guild experience was tweaked
- Daily cap on guild experience was removed
- It was announced that new levels would not be added for guilds in Mists of Pandaria
The second point was probably very minor compared to the first.
But there you have it, my single largest mistake in gold making, to the tune of approximately 250,000 gold. It’s kind of a first world problem though, having that much gold to lose. But still, it hurts.
