Getting Ready to Make Gold in Mists of Pandaria

The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago, the second best time is now.

I’m sure most of you reading this can relate to that Chinese proverb, as we now have a set date for patch 5.0.4 and Mists of Pandaria everyone sort of kicks into a panic mode and I don’t know about you but I keep thinking about what I should have done months ago (hindsight 20/20 though right?) Well lets stop worrying for now about the tree we could have planted, and think now on what kind of tree we can plant.

Unfortunately for those who have not already done so, it might be too late to stock pile on inks as the price of herbs are starting to climb as we approach. As of this publication you have less than 11 days to trade your Blackfallow Ink into the appropriate inks before the patch hits, don’t get caught come patch day with thousands of Blackfallow Ink left! I’ve talked about trading ink in for Mists of Pandaria before so I won’t go into detail about it again.

I’m still finding what I consider good deals on some pets, so don’t forget to check periodically! As it was recently announced by a blue post on pet duplicates pretty much any pets you can stockpile will stack in the pet journal even beyond the 3 of each pet limit. These pets will be cage-able so I’d expect to see a rush of some of these pets when the patch launches, don’t panic! In fact this will be an excellent time for enterprising goblins to scoop up some cheap pets!

For those who don’t feel like reading the full extent of the blue post here’s a quick rundown on what’s going on with pets:

  • You can have up to 3 of each pet, and up to 500 types of pets
  • One-time pets like achievement pets, collectors pets, store pets, guild pets etc. will merge into one copy of the pet in your journal come the patch, and will not be able to be caged and sold
  • Wild pets will not be able to be caged and sold
  • Children and pigs (and possibly some other similar pets) will not be included in the system
  • Any pets not following into the above categories can be caged and sold

So while the pet market won’t be nearly as expansive as I had hoped when they announced it but it should still be a good market, especially with the detail going into the pet battles (some pets will be better than others, some types will have advantages over others; all very Pokemon-esque). When I get back home this weekend I’ll do some more pet research and/or testing and will compile a more expansive guide not only about the pets but how it will affect the markets.

Everything Must Go

As I mentioned last week, in preparation for Mists of Pandaria I’m dumping my current stock so I have a clean slate so to speak when we delve into Panda Land (plus I don’t want to deal with old inventory that won’t move).

What I didn’t mention is that I’m also going to be clearing my TSM data for the new expansion…but I don’t know when. The three most likely times to clear TSM data:

  • When Patch 5.0.4. launches on August 28th
  • When Mists of Pandaria launches on September 25th
  • 1-2 weeks after Mists of Pandaria launches and prices start to be “normal”

What I might do is reset the data several times, maybe at each one of those points who knows. Are you going to be resetting your data? If so when? I want to hear what everyone is going to be doing in terms of TSM or other price/auctioning data.
