Pilgrims Bounty and World of Warcraft’s 7th Anniversary

I’m not usually one for orienting massive year long holiday tactics involving stockpiling eggs, cloth, pets or what-have-you, and Pilgrims Bounty is no exception. One of the newer holidays in the game (new enough that I can remember it’s first implementation…damn I’ve been playing this game a while already) it’s the in-games celebration of the United States Thanksgiving. So basically, participants spend the whole week pigging out on their ingame characters.

This is an excellently to quickly, and cheaply, bring any character’s cooking up to 300, and get several achievements for doing it. I highly suggest that if you don’t have cooking on any of your characters to use this holiday to give it a nice boost, especially on your scribe (who doesn’t love Fortune Cookies?) Aside from that there aren’t a whole lot of quick and easy get rich quick aspects of this holiday, though mages should have a good time porting everyone around as the quests for the holiday require visiting each city at least once (including enemy cities!) You might also be able to make a few gold creating a rogue for someone to complete Turkey Lurkey but with the amount of time needed and the fact that it is them doing the tagging means you can’t really control who benefits if you bring that character into a major city.

That’s not all folks, running the same week as Pilgrims Bounty is the World of Warcraft Seventh Anniversary. This year it along with the feat of strength for logging on they’ve decided to give a special gift again (last year we got nothing), though one a lot more useful than a pet:

World of Warcraft turns seven on November 23, 2011! It’s been a truly incredible seven years, and we’d like to thank you all for joining us for yet another fantastic year. To celebrate, players who log into the game between November 20 and December 3 will earn a feat of strength added to their Achievements and a “Celebration Package” item. Using your item will get the celebrations rolling by shooting off fireworks*, applying a (visual only) tabard to your character, and granting a 7% bonus to experience and reputation gains while active.

We look forward to another year of adventures ahead and many more to come!

*Please observe all goblin and gnome fire hazard warnings and celebrate responsibly.

The key thing to note here is the 7% bonus to experience and reputation you will get using this item. They don’t specify but I am assuming that the item will only last the length of the week, so this week is an excellent time to work on alts to expand the number of profession slots you have. Update: Just confirmed, the item is only usable during the seventh anniversary.

Goblins with a bit of loose change in their pockets (and I mean real hard currency) can also benefit from the usual (still unannounced for this year) sale on World of Warcraft Blizzard has on and around ‘Black Friday’. The best way to use this is too Refer-A-Friend yourself a new account and enjoy 3x the levelling speed for up to 90 days, and with it you also get a free mount, and a free month of play!

I personally expect to make full use of these events this year to firm up my roster of crafters, as one of the weaknesses in my goblineering is how little 75+ characters I have.
